Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign is hosting a series of meetings and lectures by Norwegian doctor and activist, Dr Mads Gilbert.
On 24 July 2014, Dr Mads Gilbert wrote an open letter from Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. In it he described the difficulties facing the doctors and nursing struggling to cope with the casualties of the 51 day onslaught by Israel.
He kept a camera in the pocket of his green scrubs and in his new book “Night in Gaza” he tells the story in words and images.
Mads has become one of the most prominent supporters of Palestinian rights. His experiences of working in Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza have turned him from a kibbutz volunteer to a “security risk” in the eyes of Israel.
“Nobody with a heart AND power could ever walk away from a night in Shifa without being determined to end the slaughter of the Palestinian people. But the heartless and merciless have done their calculations and planned another “dahyia” onslaught on Gaza. The rivers of blood will keep running the coming night. I can hear they have uned their instruments of death”
You can help by coming along to hear Dr Mads Gilbert’s first hand account of last year’s 51 day assault on Gaza.
You can help even more by supporting the call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. Palestinian civil society has called on international civil society to support this call.
