UCL Friends of Palestine together with KCL Action Palestine, LSE Palestine Society, SOAS Palestine Society and UEL Friends of Palestine are extremely pleased to announce one of the biggest speaker events for the year and are honoured to welcome Dr Mads Gilbert.
Dr Mads Gilbert is a Norwegian doctor who was working as a surgeon in Gaza Shifa Hospital during the 2008-09 and November 2012 massacres where he witnessed the atrocities against Gaza’s civilians. He has published a book about his experience there, “Eyes on Gaza”. He will be speaking to us on the use and misuse of medicine and health in Palestine, as a solidarity tool and as an oppressive tool, and about the systematic brutality during Operation Cast Lead which he witnessed first-hand. No doubt it will be an insightful evening and you will hear first-hand accounts of the very real and dire situation that the Palestinians face together with the ethical and medical dilemmas that the health care professionals face, in war ravaged areas of the world. There will also be a stall, which will be selling the revised and updated edition of ‘Eyes in Gaza’ book by Mads Gilbert, which he will be happy to sign. |
