Karim was born in 1988 in Jordan of Palestinian parents. At age 11 he moved to the Purcell School of Music, Herts, UK, and is now completing his studies at the Royal Academy of Music. He is the recipient of over fifteen prizes and awards and is currently supported by the Peter Andry Scholarship from the Lynn Foundation.
He has performed extensively since the age of eight in many international venues. His London debut was in 2009 with Sir Colin Davis and the English Chamber Orchestra. He has worked with Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra since its foundation in 1999 and his BBC Proms debut, also in 2009, was with them.
Karim is taking part in the Southbank Centre project “The rest is Noise” with a sold- out debut at the Purcell Room in January 2013. In his second visit to Watford he will play and talk about influences on Arnold Schoenberg and his influence on his students and contemporaries in Europe and the USA in a programme that combines 20th Century repertoire with music by Haydn, Mendelssohn, Liszt and Verdi.
‘’..there was no mistaking the shape he gave to the music, the interpretative ingenuity and mischievous wit, and I came away wanting to hear more’’ Norman Lebrech.
”…he has the skills of a born communicator” Michael Church, The Independent.
